The candidate should meet the following requirements:
- completed at least a master's degree in geophysics, geology with a specialization in geophysics or related sciences (physics, mathematics, computer science)
- good results during studies
- good command of spoken and written English
- good knowledge of unix/linux and MS Windows operating systems
- programming skills in one (or more) of: C/C ++, python, Matlab, Fortran, bash/tcsh scripts
- ability to organize work independently, creativity
- enthusiasm and motivation for scientific work
Additional advantages will be:
- practical knowledge of seismic / geophysical data processing systems (e.g. Seismic Unix, ProMAX, Generic Mapping Tools, ObsPy, SAC)
- possession of a car driving license
- knowledge of other foreign languages
Job description:
- Participation in the ongoing work of the Department, including:
- technical works, preparation of the experiments
- field experimental work
- in preparing the collected field data for interpretation
- interpretative works, 2D and 3D seismic modelling
- in the preparation of presentations and publications
- Participation in trainings
- Own work improving qualifications, obtaining grants for planned research works
- Participation in working meetings and scientific conferences
- Performing other activities ordered by the superior or the Director of the Institute as part of official duties
Conditions of employment:
- Employment for 1 year at the beginning, then permanent employment
- expected salary about PLN 5,000,00 gross
- Full-time employment
- Mostly office work, field work during experiments

JOB DESRIPTION
We offer work in an international team dealing with earthquake seismology: natural and anthropogenic seismicity and related hazards. The selected candidate will participate in scientific research in this field, conducted in IG PAS in cooperation with scientists from Europe and non-European countries. They will also participate in national and international projects.
Requirements for candidates:
- Master's degree in geophysics, earth sciences, physics or related field.
- Good knowledge of mathematics at the second-cycle level, particularly mathematical statistics and probability calculus.
- Knowledge of programming in MATLAB or PHYTON languages to the extent that allows them to create their own codes to help solve assigned tasks.
- Ability to use IT tools.
- Knowledge of earthquake seismology will be welcome.
- Knowledge of English at least C1 level.
Predispositions to scientific work: enthusiasm, creativity, and autonomy in solving given issues, as well as the ability to work in a team.Required documents:
