  • Since 2012 the Habilitation in the Earth sciences in geophysics, subject: hydrology;

  • Doctor of technical sciences, graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology in 2003. The title of the thesis was: ‘The evaluation of the selected methods of water management decision making in the vicinity of open cast mines’, I was supervised by Profes-sor Marek Nawalany. The thesis was reviewed by Professors Andrzej Kraszewski and Andrzej Sa-durski. I achieved excellent mark for the thesis and the dissertation;

  • Master of business administration, graduated from Warsaw University of Technology Business School in 2000;
  • Master of Science, engineer, graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology in 1997. I was supervised by Professor Marek Nawalany. I achieved excel-lent mark for the thesis and the dissertation defence.

  • February 2015 - September 2016: Assistant professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology, branch in Płock - scientific work in the field of hydrology as well as lectures and exercises in hydrology, water management, hydraulics, environmental protection, geophysics and specialised English.
  • April 2010 - October 2011: Engineer at L'institut de recherche en sciences et technologies pour l'environnement «Cemagref» (now IRSTEA) in Lyon, France - scientific work on statistical hydrology.
  • February - December 2009: Manager of the IT and research project: "Development and implementation of a computer system for collecting, storing, processing and on-line sharing  environmental data" - project management, research, design and programming of databases and algorithms for the classification of water bodies.
  • June 2007 - June 2008: Post – doc at the Centre for Water Resources Research, School of Architecture, Landscape and Civil Engineering, University College Dublin in Ireland - scientific work on decision support systems.
  • Since January 2003: in the Department of Water Resources (currently Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics) of the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IGF) first as an assistant then from October the same year as an assistant professor and from September 2012 as a professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences. At the IGF, I joined a research team led by Professor Witold G. Strupczewski.
  • October 1997 - June 2003: doctoral studies at the Institute of Environmental Engineering Systems, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. As part of my studies, I conducted laboratory classes and auditorium exercises in the following subjects: basics of IT techniques, including programming and numerical methods, fundamentals of system theory and Geographic Information Systems.
  • May 2002 - December 2002: Senior inspector in the Water Management Office - IT department, office work, GIS analysis.
  • September 1997 - September 2001: PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Engineering Systems, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology - didactic activity - conducting classes with students in the following subjects: basics of computer science, spatial information systems, basics of system theory.

  • Statistical and deterministic modeling of hydrological extreme phenomena in stationary and non-stationary conditions.
  • Seasonal and multi-model approach to modeling extreme flows.
  • The use of historical information to model hydrological extreme phenomena.
  • Accuracy of mapping quantile values with long repetition period by procedures combining statistical models used in hydrology with various methods of estimating their parameters.
  • Robustness of methods for estimating parameters and quantiles of statistical hydrological models to imperfections of the measurement sample.
  • Selection of the best hydrological model describing a given measurement sample.
  • Modeling of groundwater flows.
  • Decision making under conditions of risk and uncertainty.

Implemented at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Nature of participation: project manager.
  • 2009: "Development and implementation of a computer system for collecting, storing, processing and sharing the on-line environmental data." The project implemented jointly with the Warsaw University of Technology as part of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism program. The project was commissioned by the Provincial Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Krakow. Nature of participation: project manager. The team carrying out the project received the 2010 award of the Minister of the Environment "For Special Scientific and Research Achievements".
  • 2005 - 2008: "Improvement of methods and techniques for statistical modeling of flood phenomena" Project financed by the Scientific Research Committee. Project Reg.   • 2003 - 2006: 'Integrated Water Management of Transboundary Catchment' TransCat ', a research project funded by the Commission under the Fifth Framework Program and the implementation of Key Action' Sustainable Management and Quality of Water '. Contract No. EVK1-CT-2002-00124 Performed jointly with partners from Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Norway and Russia, in which I dealt with, among others, GIS analysis issues and groundwater flow modeling; Nature of participation: contractor.
  • 1999 - 2002: "System supporting water and economic decisions for the needs of opencast mines", International INCO Copernicus Program. Project implemented at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. Character participation: Chief GIS designer and programmer.
  • 1998: "Comprehensive mathematical model of the Zegrzyński Lake". Project implemented at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. My share was in calculating the lake's water balance, modeling groundwater flows.
  • 1997: "Impact of open-cast brown coal mines on surface and underground waters". Project implemented at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. I participated in modeling groundwater flows.
