The 20th SEISMIX Symposium – International Symposium on Deep Seismic Profiling of the Continents and their Margins, which this year took place in Uppsala, Sweden, has just ended.

The General Assembly of ALLEA, the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, convened in Berlin to commemorate its 30th anniversary and inaugurate a new president and board. Paweł Rowiński assumed the role of the organisation’s eighth president, taking over from Antonio Loprieno, who led ALLEA from 2018 onwards. Additionally, the assembly welcomed three young academies as new members thereby expanding ALLEA’s total membership to 59.

Understanding floods is paramount, as they profoundly impact communities and ecosystems alike. Hossein Hamidifar, Michael Nones, and Pawel Rowinski, from the Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics, IGF, have recently co-authored two compelling papers.

On April 10 and 11, 2024, in Krakow, at the AGH Main Library a two-day workshop on the use of the EPISODES Platform https://episodesplatform.eu/ took place. The workshop was organized as the side event of the conference “The Polish Open Science Conference 2024”, organized by the Academic Computer Center Cyfronet AGH.
