On 27th January 2026 took place another seminary in the Institute of Geophysics PAS.The seminar was devoted to the presentation of selected topics from the long-term collaboration between colleagues from Department of Seismic Research and JAMSTEC, focusing on crustal-scale seismic imaging.

We are pleased to introduce Eslam Mohamed, a PhD candidate at the Seismic Research Department, Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, GeoPlanet Doctoral School & SEG of Exploration Geophysicists Vice President at IG, PAS.

In early December, a delegation of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences visited the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where a two-day workshop entitled “Extended Full Waveform Inversion” was held on December 2-3 in Mumbai, India.

On November 17 and 18, we welcomed special guests at the Institute – five representatives of the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI), including the CRSRI Vice-President Prof Yao Shiming and the Director of the Department of River Research Prof Jin Zhongwu.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Sylwia Dytłow from the Department of Magnetism at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, has been invited to join the Editorial Board of the prestigious international journal Scientific Reports, published by Nature Portfolio. 

On 14 October 2025, the inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year at the GeoPlanet Doctoral School took place.

“Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Polish Scientists and Scholars in Europe: Legacy and the Present” is the title of an exhibition organized by the Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA), which was opened in Brussels.

Made possible by the invitation of Professor Suping Peng, Director of State Key Laboratory for Fine Exploration and Intelligent Development of Coal resources, a two-day international workshop titled “Seismicity Induced by Human Technological Activities and the Related Seismic Hazard. Workshop on EPISODES Platform.” took place at the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) in Beijing on September 25 – 26, 2025.
