New Editor-in-Chief of "Acta Geophysica"

The Editorial Board of "Acta Geophysica" kindly informs that as of 01.03.2024 there will be a change in the role of the editor-in-chief of "Acta Geophysica", the flagship journal of our Institute. This role will be assumed by Prof. Michal Malinowski from the Department of Geophysical Imaging of IG PAS, who is simultaneously employed by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).

With this, the Editorial Board extends its sincerest thanks to Prof. E. Papadimitriou (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece) for 6 years of serving as the journal's editor-in-chief, her dedication and efforts to continuously keep the journal at the highest possible level.

Below is a short note about Prof. Malinowski:
His research interests were evolving from crustal-scale studies from controlled-source seismology to exploration-scale studies focusing on the use of reflection seismic methods in mineral exploration in hardrock environment.
Together with his research group at the Institute of Geophysics PAS, he has been developing methodologies for improved imaging of the subsurface including full-waveform inversion, seismic interferometry, quantitative seismic interpretation, seismic data conditioning and denoising. His current research interests include data acquisition with fibre-optics (DAS), use of seismic methods in low-enthalpy geothermal studies and characterisation of the fractured-bedrock groundwater systems. Between 2017 and January 2022 Prof. Malinowski was acting as Co-Editor-in-Chief responsible for the Applied Geophysics section.

From February 2022 to February 2024 he was serving as an Associate Editor.
