Practical training course attended by students from technical school at the Geoprocessing Belsk Laboratory (GeoBeLa).

The practical training was attended by students from a technical school at the Geoprocessing Belsk Laboratory (GeoBeLa). The visit took place from May 22nd to May 26th as part of the Practical Training course.

The students were given the chance to observe the observatory's equipment firsthand and learn about its working principles. The Poles Together team organized a range of educational and enjoyable activities for the students, i.e. rock crushing, sieving, panning, and heavy mineral separation techniques. Mr Radosław Kiraga involved students in laboratory preparation work. Doctoral student Marcin Mieszczak provided explanations about understanding the history of the Earth, and Dr. Piotr Król discussed "Zircon as a time capsule." Prof. Monika A. Kusiak shared her experience regarding the “4th Polish Antarctic Research Expedition” to the Antarctic Station of A.B. Dobrowolski. Students attend the seminar ‘Shaping the Earth: Insight into the plate tectonics’ conveyed by doctoral student Tanmay Keluskar and organized by the Insitute of Geophysics, PAS as a part of project GEOGADKA: Geofizyka dla Każdego.

Furthermore, the Poles Together team demonstrated rock crushing, sieving, panning, and heavy mineral separation techniques to the students, who actively participated in all scientific tasks and gained a thorough understanding of the processes.
During the training, students had the opportunity to attend lectures conducted by other researchers of IG PAS. Dr. Piotr Sobolewski led a seminar on atmospheric physics and making observations of the atmosphere, while Dr. Jan Reda delivered an introductory lecture on magnetic and seismological research.
To add a touch of fun to the experience, a bonfire was arranged where the students enjoyed themselves along with other members of the group.
