We are pleased to announce that DSc Hossein Hamidifar from the Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, has been honored with two prestigious Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards for his outstanding editorial work for the journal Acta Geophysica.

We are proud to announce that, in a decision dated 5 May 2025, Ali Gholami, who has been affiliated with the Institute of Geophysics PAS since 2022, has been awarded the title of Professor of Science in the discipline of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

On May 20–23, 2025, the XLII International School of Hydraulics (ISH2025), organized by the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, took place at the Radocza Park Active & SPA Hotel. The event was attended by 75 participants from different countries, representing the scientific community, public administration and companies operating in the field of water management.

On June 3–4, the General Assembly of ALLEA – the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities – will take place in Copenhagen. Part of the program on June 3 is open to the public and can be attended online.

We are pleased to announce that the article by Prof. Mariusz Białecki entitled Simple Rules of a Discrete Stochastic Process Leading to Catalan-like Recurrences published in the March issue of the scientific journal Algorithms (MDPI) has been highlighted as the title story.

On 12 May, a lecture was held at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, given by Professor Donald Dingwell, a world-renowned scientist and Professor of Mineralogy and Petrology at the University of Munich.

On May 10, the 28th Science Picnic of Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre took place at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw. GeoPlanet – the Earth and Planetary Research Center – was proud to be among the participants.

During February-March 2025, a seismic swarm occurred near the Santorini-Anydros-Amorgos area, with thousands of earthquakes being recorded with a maximum magnitude of M5.2.
