Recently, we have hosted two researchers specialising in rock coast geomorphology. On May 25th Prof. Wayne Stephenson from the University of Otago, New Zealand (https://www.otago.ac.nz/geography/our-people/academic-staff/wayne-stephenson) gave a talk entitled “Fifty Years of Shore Platform Research at Kaikōura Peninsula, South Island, Aotearoa-New Zealand”, during which he showed long-term monitoring of shore platform micro-erosion as well as the impact of 2016 earthquake on coastal morphology and types and rates of processes occurring in the study area.

On June 1st-3rd, Prof. Stefano Devoto from the University of Trieste, Italy (https://www.units.it/persone/index.php/from/abook/persona/9627) visited the Institute as part of the short study visits of the PAS International Office. He gave two seminars “Twenty-One Years of Mapping, Monitoring and Modelling Research (3M approach) on Coastal Slow-Moving Landslides in Northern Malta” and “Rocky coasts and geomorphological hazards along Mediterranean Sea”. In the first one, Prof. Devoto focused on versatile study on large-scale slow-moving landslides in north-western Malta, while the second talk concerned different landforms that populate coastal areas.

Both guests were introduced to the research conducted at IGF and had individual meetings with PhD students and staff. We hope for a fruitful collaboration.
