On November 17 and 18, we welcomed special guests at the Institute – five representatives of the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI), including the CRSRI Vice-President Prof Yao Shiming and the Director of the Department of River Research Prof Jin Zhongwu.
On Monday 17th, guests had a meeting with Prof Paweł Rowiński, the Director of IG PAS, Prof Rafał Junosza-Szaniawski, the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Prof Marzena Osuch, the Head of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department, Dr Michael Nones and Ms Yiwei Guo from the Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department. The meeting was focused on presenting both institutions and discussing ways of collaboration, mostly focused on river research.
On Tuesday 18th, Dr Arianna Varrani took the delegation to visit the Hydrodynamic Models Laboratory, and shared knowledge on how to use small-scale experiments for basic research. After this visit, a meeting between the CRSRI delegation and the Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics was held, aiming to showcase the main achievements of both parties and further discuss ways of collaboration in basic and applied science.
This meeting was part of an ongoing collaboration between IG PAS and CRSRI, and we expect that connections will be strengthened, aiming to further increase the position of Polish scientists on the international stage and contribute to building joint cooperation with one of the biggest Chinese research institutes.

The Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI) is a state non-profit scientific research organisation, subordinate to the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources, and was originally established in 1951. CRSRI offers sci-tech support for national water conservancy, the harnessing and development of the Yangtze River, as well as water administration. CRSRI provides technical services for various fields involved in the development of the national economy. It is composed of 12 research departments and several sci-tech enterprises, mainly engaged in specialities like flood control and disaster mitigation, river silt, water resources and ecological environment, soil and water conservation, engineering safety and disaster prevention, spatial information technology applications, hydraulics, etc..
