GeoPlanet, the first Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the country, meets the needs of conducting a broad spectrum of research in Earth and other planetary sciences.

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GEOPLANET CENTER INCLUDE:

Supporting the research activities of the Institutes affiliated with the Center
Cooperation in acquiring and implementing joint scientific and research projects
Organization of joint scientific conferences and seminars, as well as conducting educational activities in the area of trainings for employees and public education

The Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards Coordination Department

The TCS AH Coordination Department is responsible for implementing the IG PAS tasks within the the EPOS TCS AH Consortium EPOS TCS AH – EPOS Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards. The consortium was established within EPOS ERIC and is composed of 16 institutions.

The mission of the TCS AH Consortium is to integrate data and software applications within the EPOS framework for the study of seismic and other geophysical hazards related to human activity. The integrated TCS AH research infrastructures are made available to the scientific community all over the world.

PLATFORMA EPISODES

The EPISODES platform provides open access to the integrated EPOS TCS AH research infrastructure, enabling users to:

analyze anthropogenic seismicity and related hazards,
assess the potential environmental impact of the exploration and exploitation of georesources,
access educational materials on anthropogenic hazards.

Since 2019, IGF PAN has been the leading institution of the consortium. Profesor Stanisław Lasocki was the Director of TCS AH from 2019 to 2023. In the current term (2023-2028) Anna Leśnodorska is the Director of TCS AH.

The TCS AH Department tasks:

Maintenance and development of TCS AH services (EPISODES Platform, IG PAS Data Center)
Quality and accuracy control of data made available to EPISODES Platform users
Cooperation with external data providers – TCS AH eNODEs
Management of the TCS AH Consortium
Coordination of Projects funding the TCS AH activities
Close cooperation with the Department of Seismology of IG PAS
Organization of training sessions on the EPISODES Platform

The main tasks of the Science Communication and Promotion Department:

conducting promotional activities of the Institute
popularisation of research conducted at the Institute
coordinating dissemination and educational events, including picnics, festivals
conducting popular science webinars, online lessons for schools and workshops for teachers
preparation of advertisements, press materials, publicity and complete branding and promotion of projects
coordination of popular science publications
administration and editing of the Institute’s website
management of social media content (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, BlueSky)
organisation of scientific conferences and workshops
organisation of training courses and events for employees
coordination of science dissemination and educational projects financed from external sources and the “Geophysics at School” project
editing and distribution of a newsletter for employees

participating in public science and education events, such as science picnics and festivals,
producing podcasts and expert videos featuring Institute staff as part of the Team’s projects,
organising science outreach lectures, workshops, and conferences,
organising science outreach webinars and online classes,
preparing press materials related to the Team’s projects,
supporting the media activities of the Institute’s management and staff, initiating and coordinating the Institute’s presence in the media, facilitating contacts between journalists and Institute scientists, and preparing press materials.
