Application |
SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) Spectrometer for measuring the size of aerosol particles suspended in air. The SMPS Spectrometer is installed in a measurement container in a controlled atmosphere at the Geophysical Observatory in Racibórz. |
|
Technical data |
The SMPS Spectrometer measures particle size in the range of 10 to 800 nm. The SMPS Spectrometer operates using electrostatic techniques to separate particles based on their ability to move in an electric field (electric mobility). The device consists of an impactor or cyclone that removes aerosols with diameters above the range measured by the device; a differential mobility analyzer, which is a drift chamber that classifies the drift time of charged particles based on the applied voltage; and an optical detector for measuring aerosol particle concentration, operating using the adsorption process of the working fluid (isobutanol) under supersaturated vapor conditions. |
