On June 17, the conference “Science Diplomacy in Poland and its Role in the European Union” took place at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw. The event was organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences and the European Commission.

Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as national and international research institutions. It was the first high-level meeting of its kind in Poland to address the broad issues related to science diplomacy.

One of the key elements of the program was a panel discussion titled “Science Diplomacy in the Arctic”, featuring representatives of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IG PAS) – Prof. Paweł Rowiński, Director of the Institute and President of ALLEA, and Prof. Monika A. Kusiak – along with Dr. Piotr Rychlik, Ambassador for the Arctic and Antarctic, and Prof. Rasmus Gjedssø Bertelsen from the University of Tromsø. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Monika Szkarła from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
