We organise student internships in each of the Research Departments of the Institute. They provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in our laboratories and during field research under the supervision of highly qualified scientific personnel. We realise that nowadays practical form of education in science is essential for the development of future generations of scientists.

Internship at the Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department IG PAS
The Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is offering an internship for bachelor’s or master’s students within the project “Impact of global warming on large river sinuosity (acronym WARISIN)” financed by the National Science Centre Poland.
The internship concerns the use of satellite data and Geographic Information Systems to classify large rivers and derive geomorphic characteristics at the global scale. The collected information will be classified and analyzed to investigate changes in large river sinuosity worldwide.
It is expected that the intern will be able to review the current literature on river sinuosity via satellite imagery, collect and analyze satellite information, and contribute to the development of the project also by means of written reports.
Very good knowledge of English is required.
The internship is not paid and can be done both remotely or at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

Internship at the Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department IG PAS

The Department of Hydrology and Hydrodynamics at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is looking for bachelor or master students to perform an internship within the Water 4 All project on “Ecosystem services to enhance the resilience of coastal regions and communities to flood risks in a catchment to sea perspective (acronym EcoC2S)”.
The internship will involve collecting information on ecosystem services (ES) and valuing ES in two relevant contexts: the Cadiz Bay in Spain and the Misa River outlet in Senigallia, Italy.
The intern’s tasks will include reviewing the current literature on valuation of ES as well as translating maps of ES for two case studies into actual monetary estimates, also thanks to the input of project partners.
Very good knowledge of English is required.
