On June 3–4, the General Assembly of ALLEA – the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities – will take place in Copenhagen. Part of the program on June 3 is open to the public and can be attended online.
The ALLEA General Assembly annually convenes academies of sciences and humanities from 40 countries across the Council of Europe region, providing a unique platform for dialogue across borders, disciplines, generations, and sectors.
The 2025 ALLEA General Assembly will take place on 3–4 June in Copenhagen, Denmark, hosted by the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters. As in previous years, also in 2025 our General Assembly will offer attendees a multi-faceted programme, including parts that are open to the public – such as the Scientific Symposium “Europe and the Arctic: Science and Diplomacy” or the Madame de Staël Prize Lecture on 3 June.

The symposium “Europe and the Arctic: Science and Diplomacy” will begin at 2:00 PM with an opening by Professor Paweł Rowiński, President of ALLEA and Director of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The program will also include a panel discussion titled “Research in the Arctic and the Need for Global Cooperation”, moderated by Dr. Monika Szkarłat from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
At 4:30 PM, the next part of the program—open to the public—will begin: the Madame de Staël Prize award ceremony, honoring Professor Viola Priesemann, a German physicist and neuroscientist from the University of Göttingen. The laureate will deliver a lecture entitled “From Physics of Complex Systems to Pandemic Preparedness”.
Both events can be attended online after registering through the form: https://www.alleageneralassembly.org/registration/.
