On 29 July, at the Institute we welcomed a delegation from the Universidad Nacional “San Luis Gonzaga” de Ica (UNICA), Peru. The meeting brought together representatives of both institutions, including IG PAS Directors Prof. Paweł Rowiński, Dr. Rafał Junosza-Szaniawski, and Tadeusz Latała, as well as the UNICA representative, Mag. Gustavo Huamán Orosco, Director of the Centro de Investigación del Estudio de la Actividad Solar y sus Efectos Sobre la Tierra (CIEASEST).

The discussions focused on opportunities for establishing long-term scientific and institutional cooperation. One of the main topics was the planned Memorandum of Understanding, which is intended to provide a framework for future collaboration between the two institutions.

The participants discussed a range of potential areas for cooperation, including joint research projects, exchanges of researchers, doctoral candidates and students, the organisation of scientific events, and collaboration in the development and use of research infrastructure. Particular attention was given to opportunities for cooperation in the field of solar activity research and the impact of solar processes on the near-Earth environment.

The UNICA delegation also presented the capabilities of their high-performance computing infrastructure, highlighting opportunities for joint research involving advanced computational systems. Both institutions expressed a strong commitment to further developing their partnership through collaborative research initiatives, academic mobility, and the exchange of expertise between scientists from Poland and Peru.
