On Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 of May, the EcoC2S consortium gathered in the Marche Region (Italy) for the first in-person project meeting, hosted by our partners from the Università Politecnica delle Marche.

EcoC2S is an international project involving institutions from Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany and Italy. Our goal is to co-develop a holistic approach to flood risk assessment, quantifying the contribution of natural systems and blue-green infrastructure to flood protection in transitional and coastal areas and supporting the co-creation and further implementation of resilient pathways based on Ecosystem Services

First day was concentrated on Stakeholder engagement in Senigallia. We held focus group sessions with local stakeholders to gather insights on flood risk perception and ecosystem services valuation, which key inputs for the co-design of resilience pathways within EcoC2S.

The second day was devoted to internal meetings in Ancona, where all work packages presented their progress. The Institute of Geophysics PAS was represented by Michael Nones and Iwona Kuptel-Markiewicz, who shared their advancements in WP5 Exposure & Vulnerability.

The meeting also served to coordinate upcoming publications, strengthen collaborations, and prepare for the mid-term review.

The EcoC2S project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme under the 2023 Joint Transnational Call of the European Partnership Water4All (Grant Agreement n°101060874).
