Acta Geophysica is an internationally recognized bi-monthly journal published, as a quarterly Acta Geophysica Polonica, since 1952.
In 2006 it underwent a major change, including the title. It is now published in cooperation with Springer Verlag and Versita publishers.
The Institute is the owner of the journal, responsible for all editorial work. Since 2007, the journal has been covered by the Science Citation Index-Expanded (Thomson Scientific, Philadelphia).
The journal publishes papers in all fields of general, theoretical and applied geophysics. The Editorial Board gathers outstanding specialists
in various branches of Earth sciences. Some special issues are fully devoted to particular topics.
Full texts of articles are available through Springerlink.
Publications of the Institute of Geophysics PAS is the other editorial series. It has been issued since 1962. There are the following subject series:
A - Physics of the Earth's Interior
B - Seismology
C - Geomagnetism
D - Physics of the Atmosphere
E - Hydrology (formerly Water Resources)
M - Miscellanea
The full text of past and current issues are available through Publication's Website.
For many years, we have been publishing issues with subtitle Monographic Volume, which contained monographic treatises or topical selections of papers devoted to various geophysical problems.
In 2010, the Institute of Geophysics signed an agreement with Springer to expand major part of the Monographic Volumes of our journal into a new GeoPlanet Book Series, whose editors represent the consortium GeoPlanet (Earth and Planetary Research Centre) formed by four institutes affiliated with the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The GeoPlanet book series is in part a continuation of Monographic Volumes of Publications of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences.
The book series is a forum for presenting the state-of-the-art and newest achievements in the Earth and space sciences. It is published by a consortium GeoPlanet (Earth and Planetary Research Centre), formed by four Institutes affiliated with the Polish Academy of Sciences: Institute of Geophysics, Space Research Centre, Institute of Geological Sciences, and Institute of Oceanology. Its main objective is a multidisciplinary approach to link scientific activities in various Earth-related fields (geophysics, geology, oceanology) with the Solar System research. Our publications encompass topical monographs and selected conference proceedings, authored or edited by leading experts of international repute as well as by promising young scientists. We believe that the broad scope of problems dealt with by the GeoPlanet series may give a stimulus for new ideas and discoveries.
